This past May I had the amazing opportunity to accompany my sister to the Cannes Film Festival. She worked on a documentary called Jim Henson: Idea Man—and the premiere was set at Cannes.
The only thing though—it was four days notice for basically a three day trip! “I got a ticket to Cannes and we need to leave on Wednesday”.
I’ve never been to the South of France, so that Monday night I did have a minor panic attack. I love planning trips for MONTHS in advance—and this was little to no time to prepare.
Somehow we did it though—booked a fabulous hotel 45 min from Cannes (everything in town was booked), researched what to see and do in the surrounding towns, and off we went!
We flew to Paris and then connected to Nice. Got a taxi to St. Jean Cap Ferrat—a beautiful seaside town, and arrived at the most stunning hotel—the Hotel Royal Riviera.
We were able to see Monaco, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Old Nice, and of course, Cannes, all in 3 days.
Last minute trips can feel scary, luckily I’ve been blessed with three previous trips to Europe so I was prepared with my usual tools to help me.
In case you ever need to fly off quickly—here are my favorite things to have in hand:
- Huzi Infinity Pillow: I love this pillow–it feels like a duvet, so comfy, versatile, and I’ve washed it a number of times and it hasn’t changed–a must-have I bring on every long flight.
- Eye mask: I use an amazing app that tells me when to fall asleep and wake up so I don’t arrive with jet-lag…this eye mask is comfy and super dark–easy to fall asleep with!
- Compression socks: You definitely need socks for long flights to keep up circulation, I once took off the socks prematurely and my feet blew up.
- Headphones: Comfy enough to watch tons of movies–and fall asleep in!
